Job Description

Assessment Marker – Early Childhood Education Location: Fully Remote in NZ Independent Contracting | Remote – Anywhere in NZ Please note: This is a fully remote independent contractor engagement open to candidates based anywhere in New Zealand. About the opportunity: NZTC is seeking experienced academic professionals to provide contract marking services across our Early Childhood Education programmes. This opportunity is suited to experienced educators and academics who are confident working independently, applying sound academic judgement, and delivering high-quality assessment feedback within agreed timeframes. Contract Markers support student learning through fair, constructive, and academically rigorous assessment practices aligned with programme learning outcomes and institutional quality standards. Scope of Services Contractors will be engaged to: Assess student coursework and assignments using approved marking rubrics and assessment criteria Provide clear, constructive, and academically appropriate written feedback Ensure assessment decisions are fair, consistent, and aligned with programme standards Complete marking within agreed turnaround timeframes Participate in moderation and standardisation activities where required Identify and escalate potential academic integrity concerns Maintain accurate and confidential assessment records Communicate professionally regarding assessment-related queries and resubmissions where appropriate Work is allocated based on programme requirements and assessment schedules.

Qualifications

About You To be considered for this engagement, you will: Hold a recognised Master’s qualification in Early Childhood Education or a related field Be a current New Zealand certificated Early Childhood Teacher In addition, you will demonstrate: Experience marking assessments at degree and/or postgraduate level Strong written communication and academic feedback skills Excellent professional judgement and attention to detail The ability to manage workload independently and meet agreed deadlines Knowledge of Te Whāriki (2017), Our Code, Our Standards, and relevant professional expectations within the New Zealand early childhood sector Additional Information Independent Contractor Engagement Please note - This opportunity is offered on an independent contractor basis. Contractors engaged by NZTC are expected to: Manage their own workflow and working arrangements Use their own equipment and resources Invoice for services provided Maintain confidentiality and academic integrity standards Marking volumes may vary across academic periods and are dependent on programme demand. This engagement is best suited to professionals who are comfortable working autonomously and managing competing priorities during peak academic periods.
