The Marketing & Communications team at ClimateWorks plays a critical role in building awareness, fostering partnerships, and mobilizing philanthropic action. As the organization grows to nearly 200 staff across 15+ countries, strengthening internal communications is vital for maintaining alignment, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning (10%)

  • Develop and implement a 12-month internal communications roadmap in collaboration with the Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Assess current communications practices and identify strategic opportunities for improvement. Internal Communications Structure & Best Practices (60%)
  • Build and maintain an internal communications master calendar for key organizational moments.
  • Collaborate with cross-team communicators to optimize channels such as email, newsletters, intranet, and events.
  • Create and distribute a regular, proactive internal news digest sourced from various departments and geographies.
  • Partner with channel owners to enhance content strategies, improve staff engagement, and evolve communication platforms.
  • Develop templates and tools to support effective, clear, and concise internal messaging.
  • Support the planning and execution of major organizational events like In Town Week and Staff Retreat.
  • Define and analyze metrics to evaluate and improve internal communication effectiveness. Content Development (30%)
  • Produce 2-4 proactive internal communications per month from CEO and executive team.
  • Support crisis and external issue communications with tailored messaging.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders on major campaigns and organizational initiatives, ensuring messaging aligns with organizational narratives.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in marketing and communications, with a focus on internal communications within global nonprofits or philanthropic organizations.
  • Proven experience working as a contractor/consultant, establishing strong internal partnerships.
  • Expertise in multi-channel internal communication strategies that foster staff alignment and engagement.
  • Experience supporting all-staff events including agenda setting, session design, and executive communications.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with ability to produce clear, compelling content on tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with internal communication tools such as Simplrr, Schoox, Slack, Asana, Microsoft Office, Salesforce.
  • Strong project management skills and understanding of best practices and trends in internal communications for global organizations. Compensation and Location
  • This is a 12-month contract position.
