Early Childhood Home Visiting Educator

Job title: Early Childhood Home Visiting Educator in Logan, UT at Utah State University Company: Utah State University Job description: OverviewIncumbents of the Early Childhood Home Visiting Educator position provide parent education, developmental education, and family education regarding family well-being. Additionally, they provide services in the home and community setting in accordance with specific program guidelines and outcomes. Incumbents will acquire and work in accordance with specified Early Childhood Certifications relevant to the program. This position reports to the Program Coordinator and does not have any supervisory responsibilities.Responsibilities

  • Provide families with the necessary knowledge and tools to enhance their child’s growth, development, and family well-being.
  • Educate families about parent rights, inform parents of IDEA Part C & IDEA Part B programs, and other Early Childhood Partner and Community Programs.
  • Educate families on community resources and Early Childhood Programs.
  • Provide early screening detection of developmental delays and connect families with appropriate services.
  • Conduct parent interviews, gathering history, concerns, and goals specific to the program, family concerns, and desires.
  • Coordinate and administer evaluations for children or families; facilitate and/or participate in the determination of program eligibility.
  • Provide individual instruction to parents to assist the family in understanding their child’s development or diagnosis and other instructional and developmental needs.
  • Educate parents on early childhood development and positive parenting practices.
  • Provide evidence-based specialized instruction to children and/or parents related to: a) developmentally appropriate transition classroom services for children, b) home and community group instructional services for children and families.
  • Develop strategies to build on family concerns, priorities, and resources.
  • Review and monitor child and family files for compliance and completeness; maintain appropriate complete data.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, psychology, human development and family studies, social work, early childhood development, or other related degree (or enrolled and nearing completion of a related Bachelor’s degree with early childhood experience).
  • Minimum one to two years working with children between the ages of 0-5 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified in Parents as Teachers curriculum Foundations 1 and 2.
  • Experience implementing Parents as Teachers curriculum in the home setting.
  • Two years working with children between the ages of 0-5 years.
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of infant and child development.
  • Ability to interpret and integrate assessment information needed to develop individualized plans.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs designed for families with children with and without disabilities.
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions on sensitive and/or confidential issues.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to team with other staff members.
  • Ability to acquire necessary certification specific to program needs.
