Lead Science Educator - Chemistry & Forensics

About the Role

Our client, a highly respected high school in Las Vegas, Nevada , is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Science Educator with expertise in Chemistry and Forensics. This leadership position involves not only teaching advanced science courses but also mentoring junior faculty and contributing to the strategic direction of the science department. The ideal candidate will possess a profound passion for science education, a strong commitment to student inquiry, and the ability to inspire curiosity in the fascinating fields of chemistry and forensic science. Key Responsibilities

Teach advanced Chemistry and introductory Forensics courses, fostering a deep understanding of scientific principles and methodologies. Develop and implement engaging, inquiry-based lesson plans and laboratory activities that align with state and national standards. Design and administer comprehensive assessments, including exams, projects, and lab reports, to evaluate student learning. Lead the science department in curriculum development, ensuring a cohesive and rigorous program across grade levels. Mentor and guide junior science teachers, providing support in pedagogy, classroom management, and curriculum implementation. Oversee the organization and maintenance of science laboratory facilities and equipment, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed. Facilitate student participation in science fairs, competitions, and other extracurricular academic activities. Stay current with advancements in Chemistry, Forensics, and science education, incorporating relevant discoveries into the curriculum. Promote a collaborative and innovative environment within the science department, encouraging shared best practices and professional growth in Nevada .

Requirements

Master's degree in Chemistry, Forensic Science, Science Education, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of successful teaching experience in secondary science education, with demonstrated expertise in Chemistry and ideally some exposure to Forensics. Valid Nevada teaching license with appropriate science endorsements. Proven leadership experience or demonstrated potential for leadership within an academic department. Deep understanding of scientific inquiry, laboratory safety, and curriculum design principles. Exceptional classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Experience utilizing educational technology to enhance instruction and student engagement. A passion for science and a commitment to fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students in Las Vegas .
