[Remote] Audience Growth & Acquisition Consultant

Tricycle: The Buddhist Review is seeking an entrepreneurial Audience Growth & Acquisition Consultant to enhance their audience reach and engagement. The role involves developing and executing strategies for audience acquisition, utilizing various channels and platforms to build sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive audience growth strategy that reduces dependence on search traffic
  • Identify and evaluate new audience acquisition opportunities across paid, organic, and partnership channels
  • Establish testing frameworks to assess channel performance and optimize spending
  • Develop strategies for engaging audiences on platforms such as Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and emerging channels
  • Identify communities and conversations where Tricycle’s content can provide genuine value
  • Build relationships with influencers, creators, teachers, organizations, and online communities aligned with Tricycle’s mission
  • Create approaches for community participation that are authentic and trust-building rather than purely promotional
  • Plan, manage, and optimize paid campaigns across platforms including Google, Meta, YouTube, Reddit, and others as appropriate
  • Monitor customer acquisition costs, conversion rates, and lifetime value metrics
  • Develop audience segmentation and retargeting strategies
  • Grow newsletter subscriptions through content marketing, partnerships, and conversion optimization
  • Develop strategies for moving audiences from first engagement to subscription, course enrollment, event participation, and recurring support
  • Track and report on audience acquisition, engagement, conversion, and retention metrics
  • Monitor developments in AI search, content discovery, and digital publishing
  • Translate data into actionable recommendations for editorial and marketing teams

Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in audience development, growth marketing, digital publishing, media, nonprofit marketing, or related fields
  • Demonstrated success acquiring audiences through channels other than organic search
  • Experience with paid acquisition platforms, including Meta, Google, YouTube, Reddit, and/or LinkedIn
  • Strong understanding of content marketing, newsletter growth, conversion funnels, and audience development
  • Familiarity with the impact of AI-generated search results and changing content-discovery patterns
  • Experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Mixpanel, or similar platforms
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate across editorial, marketing, and product teams
  • Experience working with mission-driven organizations, media companies, membership organizations, or nonprofits
  • Familiarity with Buddhism, contemplative practice, spirituality, psychology, or adjacent subject areas
  • Experience developing partnerships with creators, podcasts, newsletters, educational organizations, or cultural institutions
  • Knowledge of community-led growth strategies and audience development within values-based organizations
