[Remote] Legal Counsel - Part-time

Tropic is one of the world’s leading agricultural gene-editing companies, seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their team on a part-time basis. The role involves providing practical legal support for global partnerships, licensing strategies, and product commercialization, focusing on complex agreements in the ag-biotech sector.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and advise on a variety of commercial contracts, including research collaborations, licensing partnerships, sales and distribution agreements
  • Partner closely with commercial teams to provide practical legal guidance and enable deal velocity
  • Advise on corporate transactions, intra-group matters and governance matters
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to identify and manage risk and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations while maintaining business momentum
  • Support the development of the legal function to improve ways of working, templates, playbooks and adoption of technology

Skills

  • Qualified lawyer with 5+ years' post-qualification experience (PQE)
  • Strong background in commercial contracts
  • Proven experience handling IP licensing and corporate transactional matters
  • Experience working within life sciences, such as healthcare, agriculture, or biotechnology
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented approach with excellent communication skills and ‘can do' attitude
  • Experience in both private practice and in-house settings is highly desirable
  • Spanish language skills desirable
