Content Reviewer – Veterinary and Laboratory Animal Sciences

Summary

We are developing a comprehensive Laboratory Animal Research curriculum aligned with ethical, scientific, and regulatory standards for preclinical and translational research. The content includes, but is not limited to, the following topics: Principles of Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement (3Rs), Early Intervention and Pain Management, Habituation and Positive Reinforcement in Animal Handling, Training and Competency in Animal Procedures, Improving Reproducibility in Experimental Design, Animal Transport and Acclimatization, Introduction to New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), Mammalian Cell Culture Techniques, High-Throughput Screening Using Cell-Based Assays, Three-Dimensional Cell Culture, Spheroids and Organoids, Organ-on-a-Chip Models, In Vitro Toxicity Testing, Non-invasive Monitoring and Imaging in Research, Alternative Animal Models including Worms, Zebrafish, and Fruit Fly Models, Low-Stress Handling Techniques in Large Animals, Anesthesia and Monitoring in Rabbits and Large Animals, Pig Handling and Surgical Procedures, Welfare Monitoring and Clinical Scoring, and Tissue Preservation and Biobanking. Our goal is to create an engaging, standards-aligned learning experience that promotes ethical research practices, scientific rigor, procedural competency, and translational relevance for undergraduate, graduate, and professional learners. Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and scientifically experienced Laboratory Animal Research Content Reviewer to evaluate and refine educational materials focused on laboratory animal science, animal welfare, and alternative research methodologies. The ideal candidate will ensure that the curriculum content is accurate, ethically aligned, and pedagogically effective for learners in biomedical and preclinical research fields.

Key Responsibilities

Review and assess the scientific accuracy, ethical compliance, and instructional quality of content across the laboratory animal research topics listed above. Ensure educational materials align with established animal welfare principles, regulatory guidelines, and best practices in laboratory animal science. Provide detailed feedback to improve conceptual clarity, procedural accuracy, and instructional effectiveness, particularly for animal handling, anesthesia, surgical procedures, and welfare monitoring. Verify correctness of technical terminology, protocols, and descriptions related to in vivo and in vitro research methodologies. Evaluate whether content effectively supports reproducibility, ethical decision-making, and translational understanding in biomedical research. Collaborate with curriculum developers to revise and enhance content while maintaining high-quality educational standards. Ensure consistency in tone, scientific rigor, and instructional style across lessons and modules.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Laboratory Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Toxicology, or a closely related field (required). At least 3 years of academic, research, or professional experience in laboratory animal research, preclinical studies, or related biomedical fields. Strong familiarity with animal welfare regulations, ethical research practices, and alternative research methodologies such as NAMs and organ-on-chip systems. Excellent attention to detail and strong written communication skills. Prior experience reviewing or developing educational content (videos, textbooks, SOPs, or e-learning materials) is highly preferred.
